Toshiba gigabeat S (MES30)

One of the first things that strikes you when looking at Toshiba's latest portable media player is the presence of a Windows key. You certainly don't see those on the iPod, and that's because the gigabeat S is the first player to have Windows Portable...

Good screen, Windows interface, good quality sound and video, wide range of formats ;

No recording abilities, awkward tv file transfer ;

Overall, the gigabeat is a solid package. Other than the Windows interface there's little new on offer here, but everything it does, it does well. For anyone who wants to join the portable media revolution and wants something a little different from an...

Toshiba Gigabeat S reviewed, iPod advantage "wiped out"

Boy oh boy, we knew the Toshiba Gigabeat S was good after our initial hands-on at CES, just not this good - according to CNET's review anyway. See, they just snagged a 30GB model which sports Microsoft's "super-intuitive" Portable Media Center (PMC)...

Toshiba Gigabeat S

The new Toshiba gigabeat S is one slick-looking MP3 player. Available in a white 30GB model (S30, $299.99 direct) and a black 60GB model (S60, $399.99), it sports a sharp 2.4-inch LCD, a slim profile, and a nifty cross-shaped button array. Although it...

Very good sound quality. Videos and photos look excellent. Interface is polished and easy to use. Very attractive. Supports WMA Lossless.

Buttons on the side should be on the front or integrated with the cross-shaped controller. No voice recorder. Short battery life for audio playback. No Audible support.

I'm a little disappointed by the gigabeat's short battery life and the lack of a voice recorder, but you get your money's worth with a high-quality, elegant audio/video player that has plenty of style and polish.

Watching videos on the screen was very nice compared to the experience found on the iPod video

Toshiba Gigabeat S Review

It seems every day that about 10 or 20 new DAPs (digital audio players) appear on the market, but try as they might, the iPod reigns supreme. The behemoth known as Microsoft has been trying to get into the market for a while now, with various portable...

After the conference, Toshiba stated that they’d break it out on the public in March. Well, that came and went, and here we are in the summer just finally getting the chance to enjoy this little player. Was it worth the wait? For the most part, I'd...

Toshiba Gigabeat S

The Gigabeat blows away the competition I've used a lot of portable video players and ALL of the previous Portable Media Centers and can now proudly state that Microsoft got it right. Since the Toshiba Gigabeat S was first rumored and
