Toshiba Gigabeat U review

Toshiba Gigabeat U

Toshiba's Gigabeat U is a great-sounding, ruggedly constructed MP3 player that offers an FM radio, a photo viewer, and a high-performance direct-to-MP3 recording function, as well as support for purchased and subscription music content.

The Gigabeat U's graphic interface is cheesy, there's no voice recorder, no drag-and-drop file transfer, and it offers only 2GB of memory.

The Toshiba Gigabeat U is one tough, classy player that nails all the right features at a great price.

Toshiba gigabeat U Series

Toshiba continues extends their portable media player line into the flash memory realm with positive results.

Easy to navigate. Reasonably priced. Sleek design. Line-in recording. FM radio and recording. Small and lightweight.

Limited file support. Tiny screen. Boring graphics. Lousy earbuds.

Toshiba gigabeat S

The new Toshiba gigabeat S series is a serious contender in the hard-drive MP3 player market.

Very good sound quality. Videos and photos look excellent. Interface is polished and easy to use. Very attractive. Supports WMA Lossless.

Buttons on the side should be on the front or integrated with the cross-shaped controller. No voice recorder. Short battery life for audio playback. No Audible support.

playback modes include repeat all and shuffle modes, but no single or a-b repeat. you can tag songs for purchase from an online music service the next time you connect the device to your pc. unfortunately, you can't create multiple playlists on the...

Toshiba Gigabeat S review

Toshiba's Gigabeat S series --shown off by Bill Gates during his Windows Vista-centered CES keynote last January--looks like a bona fide iPod challenger, as it incorporates an improved version of Microsoft's superintuitive Portable Media Center (PMC...

The Toshiba Gigabeat S makes its mark as a supercompact 30GB or 60GB portable video player. It supports many music, video, and photo file types, including subscription services, and it has a bevy of features, such as an FM tuner and support for digital...

Unlike many portable video players, the Toshiba Gigabeat S does not record audio or video. There is no voice or FM recording, and the two-cable AC adapter is cumbersome. Also, the Gigabeat S is an MTP device and requires Windows XP. Finally, rated...

Many prospective MP3/PVP buyers have been waiting patiently for this compact, easy-to-use, one-stop shop for media files--looks like the Toshiba Gigabeat S was worth the wait.

Toshiba Gigabeat MEG-F review

Toshiba's enigmatic Gigabeat MEG-F20K There's a reason why the Apple iPod is not only the world's best-selling digital music player but also a bona fide cultural phenomenon: it works. But the reason the iPod will remain king of the MP3 player hill is...

Bright and gorgeous 2.2-inch color LCD screen; direct-to-player CD ripping with included docking cradle; compatible with subscription services such as Napster To Go; eye-catching and customizable wallpaper and screen themes; available in a variety of...

Cradle requires separate AC connection; counterintuitive controls and confusing menus; multiple software applications needed, including the frustrating bundled Gigabeat Room software; no belt clip or in-line remote-control pad included; no FM tuner; no...

Toshiba adds some useful technology and features not found on the iPod, but too many unnecessary limitations, sloppy software, and counterintuitive ergonomics add up to a wasted opportunity.

Toshiba gigabeat MEG-F60S

The Toshiba gigabeat MEG-F60S has more bells and whistles than an ice cream truck, but also serious sonic flaws on everything but flat EQ.

Huge color screen. Dozens of options. Works easily with Windows Media Player 10. Entertaining screen animations.

Heavy harmonic distortion on all EQ settings. Inconvenient menu structure. Transfers music only via dock.
