Orange San Diego AZ210

An impressive bargain debut for Intel's new mobile phone processor.

Hugely impressive amount of hardware for the price ; Screen is great quality and just the right size ; Nice overall design with easy grip soft touch back ; 8MP camera with dedicated button

Doesn't feel quite as premium as some ; Only runs Android 2.3

Whilst it is a shame the Orange San Diego currently uses the dated, Android 2.3 version of Google's OS and that buyers are likely to run up against some compatibility issues with certain apps, this is still a very impressive handset. With its price the...

Orange San Diego review: Intel does phones, finally

The first Intel-powered Android phone isn't the greatest, but it's a capable, competitively priced handset that might well pave the way for more impressive devices in the future.

Intel's first Android smartphone proves that the company is more than happy to bring the fight to existing processors. Despite the low price, the admirable performance of the San Diego's Medfield processor is the take-home message here -- which is...

Orange San Diego review

Is the future bright with this one?

Low price ; Fast processor ; Likely good battery life

Not all apps compatible ; No microSD slot ; Camera key hard to press ; No ICS at launch

The Orange San Diego marks a significant milestone in the mobile industry. It's not the biggest, fastest, smallest, slimmest or cheapest phone, but Intel is inside.

Orange San Diego review: Intel comes to smartphones

For many years, Intel has been promising that it would revolutionize mobile computing. At CES 2010, it showcased a new Atom processor, Moorestown, and even went so far as to announce a device, the L...

High-density display ; Phenomenal call quality ; Good battery life

Uninspired design ; Terrible software ; Camera has issues ; App compatibility not perfect

Intel has proved it can power a smartphone; now it has to find someone to make a great one

Orange San Diego review

The Orange San Diego Android phone, previously codenamed Orange Santa Clara, is the first European handset to feature an Intel Atom chipset

Powerful handset ; Sharp screen ; Lightweight and strong

Awful keyboard ; Dated Android ; Worrying battery niggles

The Orange San Diego certainly looks like a promising mid-range handset and it'll be interesting to see how the first Intel-powered phone to hit UK shores performs.

Orange San Diego

Orange seems to be the one mobile operator that puts the most effort into adding value and providing an interesting, and unique, range of phones. Other networks tie in key handsets - such as the Samsung Galaxy S III - to exclusive deals, but that's...

Quick, good screen, high-speed camera burst is fun, small, reasonable battery

Not very pretty, lacks Orange features like Signal Boost and HD Voice, Orange theme is entirely too orange

In short, the Intel debut is a solid phone. It's wildly uninspiring to look at, and the Orange exclusivity is a bind, but we assume that will change in the future.

Orange San Diego Review

It's taken a long time for Intel's smartphone plans to come to fruition. The company has demoed its processors in mobile devices at several CES events in the past, but has struggled to bring them to market. This year, however, Intel came prepared,...

As for the San Diego, it feels more like an experiment or the result of a happy accident that somehow made it into full scale production for general sale. It’s a quirky little device that features a good screen and decent longevity, but suffers...

Orange San Diego video review

This black slab feels sturdy, if a little plasticky. A matt, rubberised rear contrasts to the glossy front fascia, and aids grip. An 8 megapixel camera juts out at the rear; all other ports are housed within a silver plastic band that circles the chassis.

Orange San Diego review

The Orange San Diego, also known as the Intel AZ210A, is the first mobile phone with an Intel processor to hit the UK. We take a close look at this interesting new proposition in Google Android smartphones – UPDATED 2 AUG 2012

The Orange San Diego is the first Intel-powered smartphone to land in the UK, and a budget-friendly one at that. Despite its low £199 PAYG asking price, it offers significantly faster processing than its similarly priced rivals, a very good screen, a...
