The lense is fast and silent

Lense hood a bit flimsy

Amazing lens, premium build quality. Excellent image quality. Focusing is silent. Well worth the money. Use this lens regularly for wildlife and photographing birds.

Build and optic quality is simply outstanding and the new SSM II motor is impressively quick. The lens is surprisingly light too considering its considerable size. This lens takes stunning images right across its zoom range.

After going to the trouble of improving the lens over its predecessor and its high price tag, (which im happy to pay for the superior quality) I'm really frustrated that Sony STILL havent added any weather and dust sealing.

A very well built lens. Very good sharp image when the focussing has been configured for it in the camera. Will accept a tele-convertor.

A considerable increase in price over G1 version. Still a very heavy lens. The lens hood is a bit fragile. The filter access slide could be improved and made stronger and more positive in the way it locks. I must confess that I am not sure if the G2...

Superb build and super fast focusing. Colour of body. Image quality.

I find the zoom ring fairly stiff to turn in comparison to the focusing ring but at least you don't get them mixed up. I am also getting used to the direction of rotation for zooming. This lens is no lightweight either.

Irrelevant really as the product was faulty!

It was faulty - did not focus consistently and on several occasions did not focus at all resulting in having to shut the camera down prior to being able to return to normal operation. I look forward to submitting a review of the replacement lens.

Images are fantastic. Auto focus reasonably quick. Solid build with smooth actions on focus and zom rings.

Quite heavy. Takes a bit of practise to get used to using hand held.

Good quality, well built, very fast and quiet autofocus. I have only used this hand held and not a problem with the weight as some say. Love it.
