Power Machine

 

No problems noticed so far from it being a refurbished unit.

Blazing fast processor, a great improvement for a couple of my slower-moving programs. State of the art USB 3.0 ports make quick work of backups and similar. 1TB internal hard drive leaves plenty of room for growth

The only con to me about this computer is the intense reflective glare from its monitor, which is present in almost every lighting situation. Fortunately it becomes less noticeable the more the screen is filled with windows of varied color and complexity

First impressions

 

Picked up a 240GB SSD for the boot/OS drive to improve the performance and remove the bottle neck. Purchased a second drive caddy just like with the previous HP. You must swap out the primary drive for an SSD, to remedy the crippling of the performance...

This laptop is HUGE. If you're going for portability, this is not the one for you. I read somewhere that this has an extra drive bay and that was one of the reasons I bought it - I don't know if this is true yet, but if it is, you would be able to add...

Mother's gift

 

I recommend it for everyone in the future for future better computers. Unless you're a gamer. But even if you were, it'd be a hell of a great work-station too.

Booted up, worked, everything she wanted and more ; The touch screen was the real deal maker for her since she used her smart phone for everything once her computer died. So when she said she wanted to try out a laptop, boom this was the keeper

Had to do the usual clean-up, msconfig, HP spam ; 60% of the programs on there were HP spam programs that she'd never use nor anyone I though would ; NORTON auto-installed, when Microsoft has their own anti-virus which doesn't lag up the system
