Is a fully functioning DVD player with remote and performs function well
It is true, this unit will refuse to play an occasional DVD but in my experience this has been rare - maybe 1 in 25 . One reviewer mentions Netflix, I use that service as well and it has not refused to play any dvd's from there yet (tried about 30)

I tried to give this thing zero eggs, but the review page won't let me. One egg is really too generous a rating.
Plays about 1 in 6 netflix DVDs. I only wasted $20 for this thing
Can't play about 5 in 6 netrlix DVD's. The motor makes a hell of a racket
